My Busy-Mom Breakfast Hack: Maple Chicken Sausage & Fig Bars

Finding a breakfast sausage that's both yummy and healthy-ish can be surprisingly hard. One thing we love in our house is Applegate maple chicken sausage patties. They're easy to make, taste great, and have become one of my go-to options on busy mornings.

Our Quick Breakfast Routine

We pop the sausage patties in the air fryer, and while they're cooking, we're already packing up the car for wherever the day is taking us—school, soccer, errands, you name it.

Once the sausage is ready, we pair it with Nature's Bakery fig bars, and breakfast is good to go!

My kids love the blueberry flavor, while I'm a raspberry girl. Everyone gets something they enjoy, and there's no need to spend the morning making an elaborate breakfast.

The Real Mom Hack: Breakfast on the Go

Let's be honest: mornings with kids can feel like a race against the clock. Having a breakfast ready in just a few minutes makes getting out the door so much easier.

The kids eat their breakfast in the car, but by the time we arrive at school, soccer, or wherever we're headed, they're usually finished with little to no mess on them.

I'll take that as a win!

Why I Keep These on Hand

  • Quick to prepare: The sausage cooks while we're getting everything else ready.

  • Easy to pack: Fig bars are convenient to grab and bring along.

  • Kid-approved: Everyone has a flavor they enjoy.

  • Less morning stress: Breakfast doesn't have to mean another thing to cook from scratch.

I'm all for balanced meals and nourishing choices, but I also believe in finding realistic options that work for your actual life. Sometimes, a quick breakfast that everyone eats and gets us out the door on time is exactly what we need.

Busy-mom tip: Keep a box of your favorite fig bars in the pantry and your breakfast sausage in the freezer so you have an easy backup for those extra-hectic mornings.
